A bird in the hand. I remember reading somewhere a description of the small heart of the bird beating very fast when held in the narrator's hand. I love sitting at a desk in front of my living room window and watching the birds come to the feeder. How do you say, Neither a bird in the hand, nor flying?

okay english dominant friends. so this is a dicho, an idiomatic expression. my friend told it to me. she explained that it means, its better to have one good true friend than one hundred fairweather friends. i liked it.

magreen - so its not really about birds. i also like flying birds.

When I worked at the community college, I was offered to teach a class in another department, and because my own department had few assignments left to offer, someone told me, "If you've got a bird in your hand, then don't let it go." In my opinion, the bird refers to something extremely positive, not necessarily people.

[I have to name myself "Sta" again to correct myself.] I didn't realize I was thinking in translation. Mando disculpas.
